Criminal Prosecution of Wage Theft and OSHA Violations

Wage theft and health and safety violations now are being prosecuted under criminal law by the Manhattan District Attorney, who has won convictions for larceny and manslaughter. This new and innovative program criminalizes labor and employment law violations.

Join Diana Florence, Chief of the Construction Fraud Task Force, Manhattan DA’s office, who developed this new strategy in New York County; James Rogers, NYS DOL Deputy Commissioner for Worker Protection; Robert Kelner, Partner, Kelner and Kelner (represents workers), and Brian L. Gardner, Member, Cole Schotz P.C.(represents employers), to discuss:
• New interagency collaborations being developed
• Precedent setting criminal cases in New York and across the US
• How rigorous enforcement of criminal law affects employers and workers in NY
