Attorneys Jason R. Melzer and Joseph Barbiere, who handled the case for the grandparents, said they were stunned by the ruling when it occurred because it violated the constitutional rights of their clients. They said that for privacy reasons, they could not divulge the gender or age of the child but that the minor is under the age of 10.
