BALTIMORE, MD — December 22, 2014 — Cole, Schotz, Meisel, Forman & Leonard, P.A. is pleased to announce Baltimore-based members Irving E. Walker and Gary H. Leibowitz have been selected to the 2015 Maryland Super Lawyers list for their work in business bankruptcy. In addition, Mr. Walker was honored as one of the “Top 100” attorneys in the state.
Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. No more than 5 percent of attorneys in Maryland were recognized.
The Top 100: 2015 Maryland Super Lawyers list is comprised of attorneys who received the highest point totals in the Maryland nomination, research and blue ribbon review process, which includes a panel of leading attorneys asked to evaluate a list of top candidates from their own practice.
Mr. Walker, managing partner of the firm's Baltimore office, advises and represents businesses facing financial difficulties and requiring financial restructuring. He also represents creditors’ committees, trustees, landlords, trade creditors and equity holders, as well as purchasers of assets out of bankruptcy, and devotes a significant portion of his practice to representing parties in high stakes commercial litigation.
Mr. Leibowitz, a member of the Bankruptcy & Corporate Restructuring and Litigation departments at Cole Schotz, maintains a national practice concentrated in the areas of corporate bankruptcy, creditors' rights, commercial litigation and sports law.
Earlier this year, both attorneys were named 2015 Best Lawyers in America by Best Lawyers® for their work in bankruptcy, while Mr. Walker was also recognized for “Bet-the-Company Litigation.”
